Bastille Day

Today is France’s national day, we know it as Bastille Day, but in France it is officially La fête nationale (The National Celebration) and commonly called Le quatorze juillet (the fourteenth of July).

It celebrates the storming of the Bastille, a France prison, at the start of the French Revolution.

I went to my local to my local French restaurant, Pascal and Sabine in Asbury Park NJ, to celebrate with what is considered the French national dish: Steak Frites (steak an fries)

Cooked rare (in the French fashion) it is served with au poivre sauce and bread and butter.

The Crepe and pot-au-feu are also considered national dishes, but steak frites is easily my favorite!

Bonne fête nationale!!
